Lions of District 33 Y:

Life can be smooth and easy, all calm and predictable. But in an instant life can beat you down, spin you around, make you
wonder how you're going to set things right again. The tornadoes and storms in June had that power. They took away many
people's security, peace of mind and stability. Yes, Lionism is about helping people with sight issues, with hearing issues,
but, also, our mission statement asks us:

"To empower volunteers to serve their communities, meet humanitarian needs, encourage peace and promote
international understanding through Lions clubs."

The wonderful and caring response shown by Lions, as well as by the general public, exemplifies the mission statement
goal. Our volunteers work hard to serve by raising funds, donating time and money, holding special events in order that
humanitarian needs were, and continue, to be met. By helping our communities, by showing others how well we work
together not only encourages peace and understanding, but increases our own understanding of how much we really can
accomplish. And the work is not done. There are still families doing without. There is still cleanup that needs to be done.
There are still reasons for us to be proud of our motto: We Serve!

I am so immensely proud of each and every Lion in District 33 Y. I hope we never again have to meet the same level of
challenges we have so recently met. But, if we do, I know that our membership, our clubs, our district will be strong enough
and willing enough to guide the way.

Here's to the coming year! It will surely be something we can all ROAR about!

Yours in Lionism,
Beverly Prentice
District Governor
